FOREWORD: A New Works Series was born out of our desire to employ artists and create artistic work in our community during a time when live theatre is not an option for many.
On September 1, 2020 we put out a nationwide call for submissions of new, original, full-length plays. The five plays below were selected for virtual developmental workshops which began in November 2020. Each workshop ran for two weeks - during which time the playwrights worked with a director and a team of artists leading up to a public, virtual, live reading of the work.
As you know, starting conversations is core to our mission at Prologue Theatre, so there were a series of conversations paired with each of our monthly new play workshops.

- New Play Development Conversation Series: During the first week of each workshop, Artistic Director Jason Tamborini discussed the process of new play development with other members of the DC area theatre community.
- Reading & Post-Show Conversation with the Playwright: After each public reading, we hosted a live post-show conversation with the playwright.
- Deep Dive Conversation: Finally, in the week following the public reading, we brought audiences back together virtually for an in-depth conversation into the key issues each play explores.
