For us this is about creating and maintaining a solid base of continual supporters with whom we can share thoughts, ideas, good conversation, and great theatre.
While fifty dollars might buy more than five dollars, at Prologue Theatre, we deeply value everyone who is willing to make this commitment and every Friend will receive the same level of access to content and experiences that go above and beyond what is offered to the general public.

Frequently Asked Questions about Friends of Prologue
Q. Why "Friends of Prologue"?
A: We wanted to give this group of monthly donors a name – but we didn't want it to be too "gimmicky".
We reviewed words related to construction as we look to continue to build upon the solid footing that our amazing group of Founding Donors provided. We reviewed words related to sports because we know that our success depends on a team that extends beyond the artists we employ. We even thought about using a word like accomplices, because at least the first part of the definition - “a person who helps another” - was a great fit (and perhaps from a love of Lupin that developed during the last year!).
We settled on a word that, while on the surface might seem quite simple, represents what we are looking to build – a group of people who are committed to Prologue and our mission to foster conversation - people who have our back - and therefore people with whom we hope to share a deeper connection.
Q: Isn’t it better for you to get more money upfront vs. only a little each month?
A: We deeply appreciate all the financial support that we get. And while you might already be planning to donate to us, we don’t know that’s what you are planning. For us, from a budgeting perspective (and for some grant applications), knowing that we have that ongoing monthly commitment will help us out more right now.
Q: Is there a minimum monthly donation?
A: The minimum is $5 a month. The many “for the cost of one latte a month...” fundraising tropes aren’t our thing, but they also aren’t entirely wrong. Neither was Sally Struthers (if you are under 30, you’ll have to google it).
The absolute value of a donation doesn’t have to be considered large to make a big impact. As Margaret Mead said: “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
Q: I typically only give once a year – can I still join Friends of Prologue?
A: We understand that everyone has different philanthropy budgets and styles that work for them and we very much value our annual donors. Friends of Prologue is designed to be a group of monthly donors. If it’s feasible for you, we’d love to have you join us by making the minimum $5 a month commitment. At year end, you can still make your normal annual gift (less the $60 you have already given throughout the year) either online, by writing us a check, or contributing from a donor advised fund. If you have any questions, please reach out to Christie Johnson at [email protected].
